We\u2019ve finished our summer dance out season and are back practicing\nand learning new dances. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019ve had\na busy year, as well as our usual Wednesday evening dance outs and some local\nfestivals. We\u2019ve also been on a few travels this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the Early May Bank Holiday, we attended Oyster Morris Weekend in Kent. We were very kindly put up in the houses of Oyster Morris members. We enjoyed getting to know some people from other sides. On the Saturday we joined Oyster men and women\u2019s side as well as Great Western in Folkstone. We had some adventurous weather, sheltering inside the pub and dancing under a former railway platform to avoid the rain and hail. \u00a0We also had some amazing sunshine dancing next to the harbour and on the pier. On Sunday we danced in Canterbury before a seaside themed party including entertainment provided by all sides in the evening. Finally, on the Monday many other sides joined us in Whitstable for the bank holiday parade from the town via the harbour to the castle where we ended the weekend with fish and chips before the long drive home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery aligncenter columns-3 wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gloryofthewest.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/FullSizeRender-2-e1571070361717.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"550\" data-link=\"http:\/\/www.gloryofthewest.co.uk\/?attachment_id=550\" class=\"wp-image-550\"\/><\/figure><\/li><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"320\" height=\"301\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gloryofthewest.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/IMG_3764-2-e1571070402923.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"551\" data-link=\"http:\/\/www.gloryofthewest.co.uk\/?attachment_id=551\" class=\"wp-image-551\"\/><\/figure><\/li><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"320\" height=\"214\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gloryofthewest.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/IMG_4279-e1571070432460.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"552\" data-link=\"http:\/\/www.gloryofthewest.co.uk\/?attachment_id=552\" class=\"wp-image-552\"\/><\/figure><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In June we enjoyed our first camping trip of the year taking part in Polperro Festival. We danced in the parade and around the village at a pub and on the harbourside. We were the only Morris side attending so we were able to relax and go at our own pace, taking some time out for shopping and to try the local pasties! We were joined for a few dances by a lady visiting from New Zealand; she dances for a Morris side back home and she couldn\u2019t resist trying some of our dances. The festival also included lots of music and the dunking of the local mayor into the sea after being wheeled around all of the local pubs!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery aligncenter columns-2 wp-block-gallery-2 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gloryofthewest.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/IMG_5331-e1571070527670.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"553\" data-link=\"http:\/\/www.gloryofthewest.co.uk\/?attachment_id=553\" class=\"wp-image-553\"\/><\/figure><\/li><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gloryofthewest.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/IMG_5366-e1571070554945.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"554\" data-link=\"http:\/\/www.gloryofthewest.co.uk\/?attachment_id=554\" class=\"wp-image-554\"\/><\/figure><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Two weeks later we camped in Gloucestershire for a weekend of Morris to celebrate Stroud Morris\u2019s 40<sup>th<\/sup> Birthday. We were joined once again by Great Western, Oyster men, Oyster women and our hosts Stroud. It was a very warm weekend, with temperatures well above 30C on the Saturday. We joined the other sides in the town centre where we were sheltering in the shade and trying to stay hydrated between dances. In the afternoon we ventured out to Rodborough Common where we danced on the grass and enjoyed an ice cream. Any other day this would have been lovely but we were all struggling with the heat and there wasn\u2019t any shade. Our final dance spot was Stroud Brewery where we enjoyed a few local beers between dances. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Sunday\nwe danced at a nearby pub before heading to Chavenage House near Tetbury for a\npicnic and more dancing.&nbsp; It was another\ngreat, if a little warm weekend with other sides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery aligncenter columns-2 wp-block-gallery-3 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gloryofthewest.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/IMG_5684-e1571070883292.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"555\" data-link=\"http:\/\/www.gloryofthewest.co.uk\/?attachment_id=555\" class=\"wp-image-555\"\/><\/figure><\/li><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gloryofthewest.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/IMG_5717-e1571070914527.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"556\" data-link=\"http:\/\/www.gloryofthewest.co.uk\/?attachment_id=556\" class=\"wp-image-556\"\/><\/figure><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Our final\ntrip of the season was our annual September camping holiday in Polzeath. This was\na proper holiday without any dancing involved. We played the annual game of\n\u201cputting up the party tent\u201d &#8211; our large communal tent is a mission to put\nup!&nbsp; We then enjoyed a sunny weekend\nbodyboarding, walking to nearby Rock for a coffee and in usual Glory style\nenjoyed a great array of food back at the campsite. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery aligncenter columns-2 wp-block-gallery-4 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gloryofthewest.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/IMG_6340-e1571071033317.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"557\" data-link=\"http:\/\/www.gloryofthewest.co.uk\/?attachment_id=557\" class=\"wp-image-557\"\/><\/figure><\/li><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"320\" height=\"214\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gloryofthewest.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/IMG_6672-e1571071138562.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"558\" data-link=\"http:\/\/www.gloryofthewest.co.uk\/?attachment_id=558\" class=\"wp-image-558\"\/><\/figure><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Summer holiday and dancing season have come to an end and we\u2019re now back at practice.
